How to storyboard a video on your phone
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerList each shot in order with what’s in it, where the camera is and what’s said. Snap a quick reference photo for each from the actual spot. Use that list while you film and tick shots off.
Why bother
Five minutes of planning saves an hour of filming the wrong things and missing the shot you needed.
Make it
- Write one line per shot: what, where, how long.
- Go to the location and take a reference photo for each shot.
- Put the photos in an album in order, or in a note.
- Mark which shots are essential.
While filming
Work through essentials first. Tick each one off. Extra shots come after.
Questions
Do I need storyboard apps?
No. A note and an album work fine.
